  • Weekly Progress Report

    A automatic weekly progress report is sent each Sunday to help scouts stay on track. This course consists of approximately 6 hrs worth of lessons for use over the course of 1-2 weeks or at your convenience.

  • Lessons

    This course provides scouts a better understanding of textiles, and how they can help reduce our landfills of unwanted apparel. Course Supplies: Five Garments with care label and content info(2-natural, 2-manmade, 1-cellulosic) , Pencil, Paper, Printer, Magnifier or A Magnifying Phone App .

  • E-mail Policy

    The email provided at registration receives the weekly automated textile merit badge progress reports, and zoom reminders for Individual Wrap-Up meeting. REQUIRED: Scouts must CC a Guardian or a Leader on all emails sent to Ms. Mucha.

Increase Environmental Awareness

Scouts receive a better understanding of natural verses man-made fibers & fabrics, and how apparel is one of many ways to reduce our carbon footprints.

BEFORE YOU ENROLL

Complete Required Step 1

Step 1: REQUIRED - ALL Scouts must have Scoutmaster approval to begin working on this badge. Step 2: ENROLL - Scouts gain access to a Self-Paced Course.  A Guardian must be present for Individual wrap-up video conf. meeting(s) and a guardian's email must be provided when registering with a scout email for use on email communications. Step 3: SELECT - Sandra Mucha as your Art Merit Badge Counselor in SCOUTBOOK to receive credit for this course - OR- A BSA Identification No. Is required to email the completed blue card pdf file.

FAQ

  • How long do we have to complete the course?

    No Deadline!! Scouts BSA members receive a timeline that helps to plan a for 1-2 week completion rate. A automated progress report is emailed each Sunday until completed. Scouts are required to watch the initial orientation and to book a 15 min wrap - up video conference with a guardian present. Scout appointments are offered each Wednesday Evening.

  • Are lessons submitted via email?

    No. All lessons are entered into the online teaching platform. This frees Ms. Mucha up to work in here art studio. Plus, she loves teaching and helping here weekly art students while raising our own scout.

  • Are supplies included?

    Supplies are not included. Scouts will gather items from around the house for this course: Pencil, Paper, Magnifying glass, Recycled Shoe Box (no lid), Scissors, Ruler, Popsicle Stick ( or a Ruler works.), Sharpened Pencil, Tape, Yarn for warp direction. Note: Scouts may use alternative items such as paper, long enough stems, or shredded fabric strips woven into your fabric design too. Be creative!! Fork, Recycled Gift Card, Garments and the necessary fabric types needed will be discussed in Req. 2.
