FAQ

  • Are previous drawing or painting lessons required

Let's get artsy! In our Art Explorers course, unleash your creativity with a colorful array of 2-D mediums like pastels, watercolors, and illustration markers. Grab some cardstock or watercolor paper, and let's make some magic! And for our painting class, break out the acrylic supplies and canvas for an adventure in color and texture. Don't worry about supplies—we've got you covered with a complete list and online selections available for each course. Let's paint the town with creativity! 🎨🌟

  • Are art supplies included in the course?

To ensure Scouts are working with professional-grade materials, supplies are not included, but a curated, required supply list is provided for each specific badge upon enrollment. Whether working with illustration markers, high-quality drawing papers, or heavy-body acrylics and archival mediums, you will have a clear, budget-friendly checklist with direct online links so your Scout is fully prepared for their studio sessions.

  • How does my Scout receive feedback and get their Blue Card signed?

The courses are designed with a built-in portfolio system. Scouts will upload their completed requirements directly into the course platform for review. Once all modules are complete, we will schedule a live, virtual wrap-up call to review their work and finalize the badge. Please note: A guardian must be present on this video call to comply with all Youth Protection Training (YPT) standards. Following a successful review, I will provide the official signature for their Merit Badge record.

  • Is this a self-paced course or a live class?

The curriculum is entirely self-paced, allowing Scouts to build their studio habits around their busy schedules. They have 24/7 access to the video modules, worksheets, and requirement guides. The only scheduled live interaction is the final wrap-up meeting for official badge verification.

  • How do we connect with you in Scoutbook?

It is a simple process! Before beginning the coursework, parents or Troop Leaders should search for Sandra Mucha within the Scoutbook system under Registered Merit Badge Counselors and add me to the Scout's specific badge record (Art, Textiles, or Sculpture). This ensures the advancement tracking is officially linked from day one.

Testimonials

Thank you for what you offer. Our Scout has done three badges with you, and learned from each of them. You offered something no one around Maine was offering. I am going to pass along your contact information to the other scout’s parents, as our experience was SO positive. You were not only helpful to a busy Scout and Parent by sending gentle timely reminders of pending work, so the Merit Badge didn’t get neglected, but helpful in coordinating the review sessions for what our scout found to be fun and informative.

Our son re-emphasized recently that Ms. Mucha's lessons were incredibly engaging and included exciting projects that he felt like he could be successful with after watching your detailed videos. Remote teaching and learning is such a novel concept for kiddos his age, but she was able to inspire him to tackle a subject matter that he generally approaches with anxiety (he's more left-brained than right-brained). He believes that if he had taken your course prior to his Middle School Art class that he would have been less confused with the terminology and techniques introduced at that time and more able to focus on creating than being stressed by the need to create a "perfect" piece of artwork.

Thank you for what your doing Sandra Mucha! For anyone trying to get all 138 merit badges or just textiles you need to work with her its super easy to use. I only had a slight issue with one of the requirements but I was able to understand a little bit later.

My daughter took Ms. Mucha's class. So good!!! Ms. Mucha was great and is a professional in the Art world, PRICELESS!

“Our Daughter is very much enjoying your class and cannot wait for more fun artwork! She continues drawing and coloring at home too.”

My son took this Merit Badge class from Sandra and enjoyed it very much! Highly recommend! Our Scout takes a ton of online merit badges right now. This has been one of the most quality merit badges he has done!

"Ms. Mucha provides a great escape virtually allowing my scout to stay on track with her professional step-by-step online course. We appreciate the weekly progress reports, and my scout really enjoyed the art appreciation and art lessons too!"

"Our son is doing well in your class, and he is very excited about sharing with us the projects he’s worked on. He’s even shown more (than previously), interest in working on projects at home."
